Haywards Heath salon Samantha Elizabeth beat off big name franchises and Brighton hairdressers to win the Best Team award at the Sussex Salon Awards, the specialist awards for the hairdressing industry.
The team won the award just a month after winning the Client Experience Award from Phorest Salon Software. Samantha Elizabeth also was the winner of the Muddy Stilettos Best Sussex Salon award in 2018.
The independent salon, which is based in South Road, Haywards Heath, has been open just three years; it celebrates its third birthday on 29 November. In that time it has gone from strength to strength, building a customer base of regular, loyal clients who value great hairdressing at a reasonable price and who keep the salon busy six days a week.
The annual Sussex Salon Awards, which “seek and reward remarkable hair professionals for individual, business and team accomplishment”, took place at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, co-hosted by the awards director Kate Jeffery and the renowned and highly influential hairdresser Errol Douglas MBE.
Owner Samantha Newton, who works as one of the team on the salon floor, says: “This is a fantastic achievement for the Samantha Elizabeth team and follows on from our win last year of the Muddy Stilettos Best Salon Award."
“As a team we work really hard to be the best we can be as hairdressers, learning from one another, constantly training and keeping up-to-date on developments in hairdressing."
Samantha puts the success of the salon down to having a great team and looking after her regular, loyal clients. She says: “I’ve said it before that as a salon you are only as good as your team and I have a fantastic group of girls working with me. Also, our customer service is a key reason why we have gone from strength to strength. We are always looking to give the very best service to every client who walks through the salon door. We want our clients to leave the salon feeling fabulous about their hair. That’s what we love about our job."
“We work hard – you only get to be a successful salon by working hard – but we also have a laugh and we have fun. We went to the awards ceremony and we did let our hair down a bit in celebration as you might expect. To have all our effort recognised by winning the award as a team is the cherry on top of the cake.”
